The Carillon at the Parish Church of St Mary, Stalbridge

The name plate reads ‘Reconstructed and converted to play 7 tunes Sept 1896 Burden Bros Turret Clock Makers Salisbury.’

 

 

 

The clock dial on the mechanism can be seen top left.

The red cog on the right controls the carillon that plays the hymn tunes.

The pin [at 12’o’clock] is pushed up and the cog rotates clockwise and the tune plays through twice before the pin drops back into the hole when the cog has rotated once.

 

 

 

The drum on which can be seen pegs that make levers rise to operate the links that pull the hammers on the six bells to play a hymn tune.
