The Electoral Roll

This is the official membership list of the Church of England and anyone baptised and over the age of sixteen is entitled to be included if they live in the parish or attend the church. It gives the right to vote at Parochial Church Meetings.

What it means to be a Church Member

This cannot be reduced to a set of rules, because there are bound to be diversities of individual calling to say nothing of our own blindness and sin - but within the corporate life of the one Body of Christ we can set down guidelines if we are to acknowledge the Church as a many-splendoured organism.

Within the life of the Body of Christ, Christians in general accept:

Þ          A commitment to belonging in love, unity and forgiveness to all other Christians, beginning with the members of their own local congregation.

Þ          A commitment to regular, corporate, renewing worship.

Þ          A commitment to learning the Christian faith so that there is deepening confidence in what they believe and why.

Þ          A commitment to putting Christian faith into action both in general and in the particular circumstances of their own life and work.

Þ          A commitment to service within the Church and in the wider community.

Þ          A commitment to take a responsible share in resourcing the Church and through regular and generous giving, support its work, understood in the widest sense.

Þ          A commitment to growth in holiness.
