Welcome to St Peter’s, Stourton Caundle

The Church of England Parish Church serving Stourton Caundle

2009 / 2010 Tower Appeal

WE’VE DONE IT!
THE CHURCH TOWER APPEAL HAS EXCEEDED ITS TARGET OF £40,000.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH INDEED FOR YOUR HELP AND SUPPORT.

In the spring of 2009, the parochial church council announced the launch of an appeal to repair the stonework of the St Peter’s Church.  Thanks to the enthusiastic support of villagers this amount has been raised in record time.

In round terms, the funds have come from three sources:

Many villagers gave one-off donations or standing orders, or organised and helped run fund-raising events; others took part in or attended these or sponsored ‘athletes’ or prepared and served food and drink; others contributed in many different ways, such as selling and buying raffle tickets.  The past nine months has shown clearly what a wonderful community we have here in Stourton Caundle; we have shown yet again that when there is a need everyone will lend a hand to get the job done.

Now that we have the money, the work will be put in hand when the spring weather arrives and should be completed during the summer.  Old buildings are always likely to produce surprises and it is good that the appeal raised a little more than its target so that there is a reserve should the unexpected arise.  However, should we be lucky and this reserve not be needed, it will remain firmly in the St Peter’s, Stourton Caundle Church Maintenance Fund  and be available for the next time that repairs are needed to our lovely old church.

Thank you very much indeed for your contribution.
